The north most frontier of India, Ladakh is an alien land, unlike anything else in India. Beautiful rolling green hills of India's lower Himalayas dramatically change to colossal rocky and snow peaked mountains of the Greater Himalayas found only in this desert landscape. With some of the remotest and coldest areas in India, a journey to Ladakh is not for the faint-hearted.
Nestled amidst the desert and mountains are traditions of the Ladakhi people where Buddhism has played a vital role. You can feel the spiritualism in Ladakh's air as thousands of prayer flags move harmoniously with the wind everywhere you go.
A journey with VAYU on this tour will take you to some of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh like Lamayuru and pristine azure waters of Pangong lake

Your Ladakh journey continues with navigating the contours of the rocky mountains of the region. After breakfast, make way for Stok Palace, the residence of the royal family since 1840. Drive to 16th century old Matho monastery belonging to one of the last red-hat sects of Ladakh. The monastery houses 400 year old artifacts and many shrines can be found around it. Carry on to Stakna Gompa, 13 Kms away from Matho before heading back to your hotel.
Leh - Shey, Thikshey, Hemis
Today we spend the day sight seeing. You will be visitng some of Leh's most beautiful monasteries; Shey Palace, Thikshey and Hemis monasteries. Shey Palace, situated on a hillock, was once the residence of the royal family and was constructed by the first king of Ladakh. Later, drive to Thiksey Monastery, considered as the most beautiful monastery in Ladakh. The day ends with a visit to Hemis monastery, the largest monastery complex in Ladakh.
Leh - Khardung la - Nubra Valley (Hunder)
Leave today with your VAYU chauffeur for Hunder (Nubra Valley) through Khardung La Pass (5602 m) - World's highest motorable road. Stop a while for photo shoot and continue to Nubra Valley. Nubra is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh. The Shyok River meets the Nubra River to form a large valley that separates the mountain ranges of Ladakh and Karakoram. The average altitude of the valley is about 3048 meters and a coveted place for stargazing.
Nubra - Leh
Also known as the 'Desert in the Sky', Hunder is a small village where the river Shyok and Nubra meet. Famous for the camel rides among the never ending sand dunes, the Bactrian Double-humped camels are a reminder of a bygone era of the Silk Route. Spend the day taking in the sights and enjoy a camel ride. Drive back to Leh by the same route via Khardung La pass.
Leh - Pangong
The drive to Pangong Lake in the morning passes through Ladakh's beautiful countryside. The azure blue lake is spread over 100 kms and over 2 countries, one-third of it in India and two-third in Tibet. Situated at an altitude of 4250 meters, Pangong lake is a spectacular spot to camp overnight and one can rent a tent around the lake.
Pangong - Leh
In the morning enjoy a photo session around the lake before heading back to Leh today.
Leh - Likir - Alchi - Rizong - Uleytokpo
After breakfast leave for Uleytokpo, known to have the best camping spots in the region. En-route visit Likir Gompa and continue to Alchi monastry before reaching Uleytokpo by lunch. Enjoy the evening besides the river banks and take in the sights.
Uleytokpo - Lamayuru - Leh
