Day 1 - 80 Kms
Vanakkam! Welcome to Chennai. Named by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten cities in the world to visit in 2015, Chennai is one of the biggest cultural, economical and educational centers in India. You can choose for your VAYU chauffeur to pick you up at Chennai International Airport or choose to meet him directly at your hotel. Your VAYU chauffeur is with you throughout the day so feel free to start exploring the city at your own pace. Suggested Activities: Visit Fort St. George, St. Thomas Church, Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Marina Beach.
Day 2 - 150 Kms
Chennai to Mahabalipuram via Kanchipuram
In the morning, head inland to the town of Kanchipuram (Approx 2 hrs). Located on the banks of the Vegavathy river. It is one of the 7 pilgrimage sites in India for spiritual release. Head over to the major temples of the state before making your way back to the coastline to Mahabalipuram. Known as Mamallapuram by the locals, it is an ancient port capital of Pallava Dynasty. In addition to ancient temples and monuments, there's a popular tourist hub of Othavadai and a growing surf scene. Suggested Activities: Visit Arjuna Penance (A famous rock sculpture), Five Rathas and the Shore temple.
Day 3 - 150 Kms
Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry
Post breakfast, a 2-hour drive from Mahabalipuram transports you to a visually different side of the south-east coast of India. Brimming with French influences and famous for the beaches lining its coast, Pondi (as its famously called) is a fascinating region. Let your VAYU chauffeur drive you through this coastal area; on the way, witness how salt is manufactured from sea water. The best way to explore the city is by pedaling through the streets on a rented cycle. The quaint town of Pondicherry does not disappoint adventure freaks. Paradise Beach and Karaikal Beach are two of the most popular beaches in Pondicherry for thrilling water sports.
Day 4 - 170 Kms
Pondicherry to Tanjore
With some spectacular bistros and restaurants, it is just fair to leave Pondicherry post lunch. Once you have dusted the sand off your clothes, your VAYU chauffeur will take you to the 'Rice bowl of Tamil Nadu'. Tanjore was the capital of one of the most remarkable civilizations of Dravidian history, the great Chola empire. The Chola's left a lasting legacy and contributed immensely to the development of architecture, art, music and literature still found today in the region. A great way to acquaint yourself with Tanjore is by attending a classical music recital and dance performance. Suggested Activities: Visit Royal Palace and Brihadishwara Temple. Day 5 - 120 Kms
Tanjore to Trichy to Tanjore
A 2-hour drive from Tanjore lies Trichy. The present-day city, with a blend of glorious past, stands as a commercial and tourist hub of Tamil Nadu. The spectacular Rock Fort Temple, the landmark of the city, is on the shores of the Kaveri and should not be missed. Head back to Tanjore in the evening for the night as we gear up for our last stop in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Day 6 - 100 Kms
Tanjore to Chettinad
This morning, we travel to Chettinad. Renowned for its cuisine, the word "Chettinad" itself means a social caste that specialise in the preparation of food. The cuisine is the spiciest and most aromatic of South India, so make sure you have an iron gut for the food.
Day 7 - 80 Kms
Chettinad to Madurai
Leaving Chettinad, your VAYU chauffeur takes you to an ancient city with a rich cultural and architectural heritage, it is called the ‘Athens of the east’; but Madurai, arguably, has as much history as Athens itself. Even though Madurai is best associated with the Meenakshi temple, there are many more interesting things to do in this city. Madurai’s Gandhi Museum has the dress with blood stains that Gandhiji wore when he was assassinated, take in a temple concert in this ancient city or spend some time in the bazaars browsing through traditional craft products of Tamil Nadu. Suggested Activities: Visit Gandhi Museum and Meenakshi Temple.
Day 8 - 140 Kms
Madurai to Thekkady
A 3-hour drive in the morning from Madurai and you are transported to God's own country, Kerala. Kerala is one of the smallest states in Southern India but the state is home to diverse landscapes including rivers, canals, backwaters, beaches, lush green forests and tea plantations. On arrival, explore Thekaddy at your own pace, there is plenty to see and do during your stay here - How about experiencing ancient Indian medicine first hand. With some of the best health spas in Kerala, a Shirodhara massage is a unique body therapy from the natural medical system of Ayurveda. Add a Spice Garden tour en-route to Thekkady.
Day 10 - 160 Kms
Thekkady to Kochi
Leave for the capital of Kerala, Kochi, in the comfort of your car with your VAYU chauffeur. Take your VAYU chauffeur and visit some of the sights around the Fort Kochi area, including St Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica and the famous Chinese fishing nets. Why not take a Kochi food and culture tour later in the day.
Day 11 - 80 Kms
Why do all good things come to an end eh? Check out from your hotel as per your convenience and depart for the airport. If you wish to stay a few more days or need help with any transfers, please let us know and we will be happy to help you out.

There are no fixed activities in our tours. You are free to choose any activity you want in the cities that you visit during a tour with us. Your VAYU chauffeur would be happy to take you to the places you want to visit in the comfort of your personal car. The prices for all our itineraries are listed as per 'base price'. 'Base price' is the price of a tour in a sedan car that accommodates up to 4 people. If you need a bigger vehicle, once you click the Book Now button you will be directed to a page that will allow you to book different vehicles.
